Meet Lady, our newest sponsored dog at our local San Diego Humane Society. Lady was brought to the SDHS by a good samaritan on July 24th, 2018. Since that time, she has served as the resident “sweetest senior” dog and is looking for a new, loving home. Lady has met large groups of people and enjoys meeting and greeting everyone. She also enjoys walks and loves caretakers who enjoy taking her. A couple of Lady’s favorite things are carrots and bully sticks. Lady is well trained and knows how to ask to go outside to potty, walks nicely on a leash, and has impeccable manners. At the end of the day, this love bug just wants to cuddle! Please contact the San Diego Humane Society for more information on Lady!
Beau - New York City, NY
Beau is a seven-year-old Yorkie mix. He arrived at The Humane Society of New York after years of abuse and neglect. His entire face and body were covered with mats, and after shaving him down, it was discovered that he was also blind. HSNY’s doctors suspected it was due to some sort of trauma to his head, and X-rays confirmed that he had suffered a skull fracture which cost him his sight.
After a lengthy medical workup and rehab, Beau is enjoying life. He gets around very well and loves walking and playing. Beau is available for adoption at www.humanesocietyny.org.
Bam Bam - Columbus, OH
Meet Bam Bam a seven year old boxer. Bam Bam cam to Columbus Humane as an owner surrender when his previous family could no longer provide the care he needs. Even though he is a little older, Bam Bam loves to play, especially with squeaky toys! Some of his favorite things to do are go on jogs (he is great on leash!) and play tug-o-war. Bam Bam knows “sit,” “stay,” and can also shake with both paws! Bam Bam would make a great addition to your family!
Dagda - Columbus, OH
Meet Dagda! This three year old mixed breed came to Columbus Humane as a transfer from a partner shelter. Dagda is full of energy and very strong! Our pup friend has a mind of his own and would benefit from continuous training classes. He does great with other dogs, but would do best in a home without any felines.
Catalina - Columbus, OH
Meet Catalina, a five year old Pitbull mix looking for her forever home. Sadly, Catalina’s previous owner passed away and was then taken to a shelter in Puerto Rico before Hurricane Maria hit. Through some collaboration, Catalina was transferred north to Columbus Humane! Catalina understands English so don’t worry about the language barrier! She knows “sit,” “shake,” and “down” and loves taking naps.
Biscuit - Columbus, OH
Meet Biscuit! You guessed it, this one year old Pitbull mix LOVES biscuit treats and she can “sit” and “shake” in exchange for one. Biscuit is one energetic lady and isn’t afraid to show her exuberance. Biscuit would do best in a home with an active lifestyle since she is an active girl. In her downtime, she is quite the cuddle bug and isn’t afraid to climb into your lap to say “hi” and get a good ear scratch. Biscuit is still working on what the staff at Columbus Humane call “leash etiquette,” but is making great improvements!
Fondie - Puerto Rico
Fondie, a 7 years old brown terrier, is well known in her neighborhood of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. In the year 2012, a fraudulent vet., was arrested and she was found among the 50 neglected and abused dogs, 1 cat and 1 horse in his house. Nicknamed, the survivor dog, Fondie was placed in the Villa Michelle shelter. After Fondie was adopted, however, she was surrendered back to the shelter. None of this has dampened her spirit, though.
Every neighbor of her town loves Fondie, and often feed and play with her! When she comes to the shelter after staying the night away, she comes to the office to greet the staff, eat and rest. Fondie's house was damaged during the hurricane, and she is currently staying at the shelter.
Lorna is a 13 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix who was abandoned during Hurricane Irma. She was left in a stilted house on a canal outside of Key West without any food or water and no way to escape if the storm were to affect the house. She ended up chewing through a door frame to escape the home and was found by someone who called the Florida Keys SPCA.
The FKSPCA was able to take her into their care, get her medicated, feed her and return her back to health. Even though the family knew Lorna was in the shelter, they never went to claim her. Eventually they surrendered her to SPCA, who are are now looking for a forever home for her! Please contact the Florida Keys SPCA for more information.
Duke - Houston, TX
2017- Duke is a two-year-old Labrador Retriever who was one of the many pets rescued in Beaumont in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Nobody came to claim him in the month that he spent waiting in the care of the Houston SPCA, so he’s ready to find a loving forever home. Duke has energy for days, and he has made an impression on everyone who has worked with him thanks to his active and fun personality.
He had somehow injured one of his toes during the storm, and he wagged his tail so hard that he had to have it bandaged, but not even that could stop him from being happy-go-lucky! The Houston SPCA’s veterinary team made sure that all his injuries were healed properly before they made him available to adopt. Duke has overcome a lot to get where he is, and he’s ready for a family to show him the love and attention he deserves! Contact the Houston SPCA for more information on Duke.
Alphabet - San Francisco, CA
2017 - Alphabet is a fun and frisky girl wants to learn as much as she can from her new family. She is recovering from surgery and has some exercise restrictions at the moment, but if you give her some love and care she is sure to brighten up your day!
She will be a young, energetic and bouncy gal once she heals! She is looking for an active adopter since she loves to romp around and get lots of exercise, but then snuggle up with you for some cuddle time. She will need daily mental and physical exercise to keep her mind and body in check.
2016 - Meet Lacey! She has been in the care of San Diego Humane Society since March 2015, so the staff and volunteers have grown to love her and have so much to share about her. Lacey was very scared when she first entered our care and took her time warming up to her caregivers.
After a lot of patience and positive reinforcement, Lacey has shown the staff what a lovely companion she is. She is a calm, loving girl who knows TONS of tricks that she can’t wait to show you. Currently in foster care, her foster mom tells us she is a complete rock star and she is even incredibly well housetrained. She states, “I can't believe she hasn't been adopted yet she is a complete love bug!”
2016 - Meet Effie, a tan pit bull terrier mix that YLD is helping to sponsor at the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society. She is about 3 years old with the roughest background story of any dog our company has ever been involved with. According to Pittsburgh’s Action 4 News, “When Effie arrived at the shelter in late January, the dog's condition was rated as a 1 -- the worst on a scale of 1 to 9. The emaciated pit bull mix was thought to have only hours to live.” She had been cruelly starved by her owner and her case has since sparked new animal abuse legislation in Pennsylvania.
She is ready for adoption now but very understandably, the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society has stringent requirements for any potential new homes. If you’d like to read updates about Effie’s condition, please click here: http://wpahumane.org/effie
2015 - Meet Roger, a very cute resident of the New York Humane Society.
Deborah stopped in to meet him, nose to nose, while in NYC in April.
Roger is a sweetheart! He has allergies, but his handlers assured us that they are manageable for anyone who is lucky enough to bring Roger home.
He has some impressive pirouette skills that will help him beat out some cute young puppies on the adoption floor! We expect him to find a forever home soon!
Deanna - San Francisco, CA
2014 - Meet Deanna, the first chihuahua that we have ever sponsored.
Little Deanna has been through a lot in her young life. She hasn't had a lot of experience in the outside world, so she is looking for patient adult adopters with a quiet home to help boost her confidence around new people and situations.
Once she's comfortable, you'll see Deanna become a silly, wiggly, happy lap dog!
Bessie - Columbus, OH
2014- Meet Bessie, a four-year old Pit Bull. Bessie is a sweet and playful girl that loves attention but knows how to amuse herself as well. She still needs a little help with her leash manners, but she's got the game of fetch down solid.
Bessie is currently a resident at the Capital Area Humane Society in Columbus, Ohio since the summer of 2013. She is housetrained and has wonderful manners in her foster home. She is mild, doesn't bark a lot and is confident in new places. She adores car rides especially with the window cracked just enough to feel the breeze. She does have some allergies so her new family will have to watch what food she eats.
Holly - San Francisco, CA
2013- Meet Holly, a sunny girl with a happy-go-lucky grin. With abundant energy, she enjoys walks and snuggling on the couch and gets along with people of all ages and dogs too.
Holly is living in a San Francisco SPCA foster home and looking for a special family of her own. She is practicing her house manners including crate training, house training, and leash walking. Her foster family is happy to tell you more about her personality and help guide you through the adoption process to ensure that she is the right match for you.
Edgar - New York City, NY
2012- Meet Edgar, a five-year-old Shih Tzu abandoned during Hurricane Sandy.
After the storm, the Humane Society of New York assisted overwhelmed shelters in every borough of New York City. Edgar came from one such shelter in Long Island that was operating on a generator and was filled to capacity with sick animals.
Sweet and shy, Edgar was missing most of his hair from scratching and gnawing. In just one week he is showing significant improvement, but the Humane Society of New York still has him wearing doggie pajamas to help with the irritation.
MacKenzie - San Diego, CA
2012 - McKenzie is a 3 year old, spayed female American Pit Bull Terrier, who is a complete and total bundle of joy. McKenzie has been available for adoption since November 2011 and we have no idea why she's still here because she’s such a love bug! She lived with another dog in her previous home and truly enjoys attention from people.
She’s quite snuggly, and has a very wiggly, squishy, soft personality. She weighs in at about 60 pounds, but has a rather stocky build that we find absolutely adorable! She’s been described as “friendly, happy, social and affectionate.” She loves to play fetch and tug of war, but is also perfectly content to lounge on her bed or snuggle with the nearest human. McKenzie knows sit, stay, come and down commands and is very smart and easy to train.
Patty - Columbus, OH
Patty is one sweet and gentle girl who loves to give kisses and tail wags to everyone she meets. Patty was rescued from a life outdoors in the sweltering summer heat where she was found abandoned without food or shelter, and was 30% underweight. Patty recently had a dental procedure to help the sweet thing comfortably eat and has gained 10 pounds. Despite her lonely past, love-bug Patty knows "sit," "stay" and a most adorable "shake." Patty can be quite spunky and playful but knows when to mellow out well, too! If you'd like to meet precious Patty or would like to learn more about her, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Kendall - San Francisco, CA
Kendal is one of the sweetest cattle dog mixes we’ve seen. He is a big boy who is a bundle of love. Those big blue eyes will win you over as will his pleading for a belly rub. Kendall could stand to lose a few pounds, but let’s face it, who won’t after the holidays? Come meet Kendall at the San Francisco SPCA at 250 Florida street or check him out online at sfspca.org. And don’t miss Kendall’s friends who are the stars of the Macy’s Holiday Windows in San Francisco’s Union Square now through January 2. Visit our info page to volunteer, donate or watch our adoptable cats and dogs on webcam in the Macy’s Windows at www.sfspca.org
Mig - San Diego, CA
Mig is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with a sweet disposition. She came to the San Diego Humane Society with special needs – she has a diabetic condition that requires her to have daily shots of insulin to keep her healthy.
Mig is a shy girl, at first, but she warms up very quickly. She would do well in many different home environments, but she would prefer to be the only pet for her new family. This lil girl has a big heart with lots of love to give.
Princess - Columbus, OH
Meet Princess, a 5-year-old Australian Shepherd mix, who was brought to the Capital Area Humane Society in Columbus, Ohio, when her owners had to move and couldn’t take her with them.
A member of the Special Adoptables Program, Princess has mild hip dysplasia which is not uncommon with a dog of her weight and size that will need to be watched going forward.
Princess is part of the toy enrichment program and has her own set of specially-chosen toys to play with in her kennel in between her 3-4 daily walks.
Shiney - San Francisco, CA
Shiney is a 6-month-old Beagle mix that was found as a stray and transferred to the San Francisco SPCA from a shelter in Salinas, CA.
Still a puppy, Shiney has lots of energy, and will need an owner who has plenty of time to spend exercising him. He is a bit on the shy side, so he is looking for a patient new friend who will help him to come out of my shell.
Shiney would enjoy attending a reward-based training class so that he can learn lots of new things.
Roscoe - New York City, NY

Roxie - Columbus, OH
Meet Roxie, a 3-year-old husky mix from Franklin County, OH, who was brought to the Capitol Area Humane Society in January of 2007 after being rescued from a neglectful home.
Roxie is an extremely sweet, loving, affectionate girl who loves to cuddle and receive belly rubs! She is very bright and already knows how to "come" and "sit"! Roxie loves to practice and learn new commands and she is happy to work for either yummy treats or the reward of a tender touch.
Despite her playful spirit, Roxie is very laid back and well-behaved in the house and is also an excellent passenger in the car.
Gumbo - San Diego, CA
Meet Gumbo, You Lucky Dog’s first sponsored dog.
You wouldn't know from Gumbo's happy-go-lucky attitude that he went through a lot for a few months.
Gumbo was one of 102 dogs flown in September 2005 to San Diego, CA from a temporary shelter in the Gulf Coast. He was being housed with thousands of other animals stranded and made homeless by Hurricane Katrina.
